Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM PICK Following a struggle with cancer, with his wife Mary by his side, Bill Pick passed away in his sleep on January 4, 2000. Bill was born on his parents farm in the Rorketon, Man. area on October 18, 1908. Bill was one of 11 children born to Paul and Katerina Pich. Bill was predeceased by his son Leonard, daughter Barbara, and daughter-in-law Marcia. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary; son Archie (Jeanne) of Parksville B.C.; grandson David Pick (Christine McCready) of Canmore, Alta.; granddaughters, Kirsten (John Gaucher), Jennifer, both of Calgary, Alta., Susan Parkinson of Vancouver, B.C.; great-grandson Jacob William Gaucher; brother Jake (Beatrice) Pick of Dauphin; sisters, Eva Earl of Moose Jaw, Sask., and Pearl Samby of Trenton, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews - all of whom he loved. Bill excelled in life, valuing family and friends above all. He was recognized by all who knew him for his genius, limited little by a fourth grade education. He started his working life as a farm labourer on the Saskatchewan-Alberta border in 1922, and during his life he was a: commercial fisherman, miner, machinist, auto mechanic, diesel mechanic, carpenter, automobile and farm equipment dealer, storekeeper, and construction superintendent. An inveterate handyman who could fix anything, a raconteur who loved the "Shaggy Dog", and word play. Bill was a skilled hunter who loved the autumnal call of ducks, geese, elk and moose. He loved us and we loved him very much. It is difficult to imagine a world without him. At Christmas, knowing he was failing, he said, "I want to find out what it is all about". Dad was blessed with a lifetime of good health and a great curiosity about how things worked. He now knows the answer to the ultimate question. "Hi Ho the Wolf". In memory of Bill, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6 between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m., also in the chapel. Reception to follow. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
