FORBES CARTER After a courageous struggle with cancer, Forbes passed away on January 26, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital, with his loving wife Priscilla (Pat) at his side. Forbes is survived by his wife Pat, son Allan Carter (Catherine), daughter, Laurie VanLandeghem (Don), son Brian Reinisch (Kathy), brother Bob Carter; stepchildren, Judy English (Tom), Larry Fowler (Gayle), Kathryn Southwood (Gary) Andrew Fowler, DeDe Squire (Ken), 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Forbes was born May 18, 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was a long time employee of Canada Manpower retiring in 1989. His greatest enjoyment was the more than 30 years that he spent at Minaki. Since his retirement, Forbes and Pat spent six months of each year at their cottage there. He especially enjoyed the time spent with family and their many friends at the lake. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to close family friend Dr. John McKenzie for his guidance and support throughout Forbes illness. We would also like to thank the doctors and Fourth Floor Nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their wonderful care. Thanks also go out to the many friends who gave their support over the past few months. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in memory of Forbes to the Manitoba Cancer Society or a charity of their choice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
