IRENE CONLY (nee Riddell) Peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2000, Irene Conly passed away at the Oakview Place. Irene is survived by her daughter Margaret Franklin and her family: Glen, Kate, Pam and Janet; son Jim and his family: Jennifer, Jane and Thomas. Irene was born in Dauphin in 1909 and attended school there until her family moved to Winnipeg in 1918. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1930. Following a year of teacher training she taught for four years at Victoria Beach, a place where her family had spent many happy summers. Coming back to Winnipeg in 1935, she taught at George V, Cecil Rhodes and Pinkham schools. In 1943 she married Rev. William Conly. She was very active in church womens organizations and Christian Education for the seven years she and her husband spent at Killarney, the six at Carman and the seventeen years at Sturgeon Creek United Church in Winnipeg. Following Bills retirement they spent many enjoyable years in their Woodhaven home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 31 at 2:30 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
