EMILIA SUCHARYNA (nee JAREMA) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing after a lengthy illness, of our beloved mother and baba, Emilia Sucharyna, aged 74 years, wife of Nick Sucharyna on Thursday, January 27 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Emilia was born in selo Hnatkowyce, oblast Lviw, Ukraine on February 18, 1925. Emilia and Nick were married in 1947 and they immigrated to Winnipeg from Germany in 1949. Besides her husband Nick, she is survived by sons, Mike (Natalie), Jerry (Cathy), John (Svetlana) grandchildren, Terry, Darlene, Tanya and Tamara; two sisters, Mary and Stefka in Ukraine. She will be remembered by family and friends for her cheerful disposition and love of singing. Emilia was a wonderful wife, mother and baba. Special thanks to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion. Prayers will be sung 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 30 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 31 at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave., with Rev. E. Hafichuk officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Peter Gojan, Ihor Wenger, Bohdan Waplak, John Weretyk, Ihor Melnychuk, Jerry Sucharyna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Ukrainian Congress, 456 Main St., Winnipeg, R3B 1B6. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
