JOHN ALBERT BARKMAN It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of John Barkman on January 28, 2000 at the age of 58 years. He will be sadly missed by his son Craig Barkman; daughter Heather (Ernie) Ginter; brothers, Werner and Hank; sisters, Alvera (Henry) Funk, Diana (Ken) Topnik and Margaret Joyce (Lou) as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Henry R. and Elizabeth F. Barkman; sister Elizabeth; brother Elmer and nephew Randy Funk. John was born in Steinbach and raised in the area until he moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba. There he met and later married Judy Benson and went to receive his degree in mechanical engineering. Johns wonderful sense of humour, philosophical conversations, generous and outgoing personality will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Johns children would like to thank the staff at the Health Science Centre Emergency Department for the compassionate care given during their difficult time. Cremation has taken place. The family will be gathering to celebrate Johns life the way he would have liked. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of John can be made to the charity of ones choice.
