CARL GEORGE BIRD SR. It is with love and deep sorrow that the family of Carl Bird Sr. mourns his passing. Dad passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side, on Saturday, January 29, 2000. Dad was born on September 2, 1927 in Hole River, Manitoba. He shared 50 wonderful years with his wife Mary. Together they raised nine children. Dad will be greatly missed by his wife Mary; four sons, Carl Jr. (Kathy), Tommy, William and Dave (Doreen) five daughters, Dolly (Irvin), Wendy, Theresa (Ron), Pam (Dale) and Angie; 25 grandchildren, Bon (Ali), Tracy (Doug), Mona (Robin), Melanie (Chico), Trudy (Chuck), Carla, John (Tanya), Penny (David), Red Sky, Ryan, Mike (Dawn), Shannon, Bo, Tara, Tommy, Christy, Myles, Willzo, Alex, Kyle, Baby Dawn, Nathan, Holly, Robyn and April; nine great-grandchildren, Allysa, Jonathan, Isaiah, Daniel, Tanisha, Daulton, Evan, Kally and Keestin; three brothers, Walter, Clifford and Bill; two sisters, Winnie and Gladys, numerous relatives and friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents Tom and Bella Bird; brothers, Honey, Allan, Percy, Stanley, William and Cyril. Dad was a bus driver for the past 41 years and was employed by the Peguis School Board. Before he became a bus driver he worked as a farmer and fisherman. For the past 27 years of his life, Dad was a dedicated born again Christian and was actively involved in the Peguis Church as an elder. Dad was a loving husband, father and Mooshoom who would do anything for his children and grandkids. Dad always spoke fondly of his ten grandsons. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to nurses, Lorne Houston, Joanne Bouchard and Kenny Webb; Dr. Engelbrecht; home nurse Aunt Florence Stranger; Aunt Gladys Sinclair and Councillor Glennis Sutherland. Wake services will be held on Saturday, January 29 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 30 at 3:30 p.m. at the home, Sunday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. and Monday, January 31 at 8:00 p.m. at the Peguis Church, Peguis, Manitoba. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 1 at 1:00 p.m. at the Peguis Church, with Pastor Irvin Wilson and Brother Wayne Wasicuna officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Peters Anglican Cemetery. The pallbearers will be three of his sons, Tommy, William and Dave and three of his grandsons, John, Ryan and Red Sky. The Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Grouch, Clifford Cook, Jerry Traa, John and Stanley Golas and all Peguis School bus drivers, past and present.
