Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH WALTER CHILDE After a courageous battle with emphysema, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Ken, surrounded by his family at Concordia Hospital on January 27, 2000. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Lil; daughters, Jacky (Bruce) Douglas and Kathy (Bill) Wardekker; sons, Brad (Pat) and Terry. He will also be missed by grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) and Jennifer Ward, Amanda and Megan Wardekker, Kris, Alyssa and Scott Childe and Ryan and Lindsey Childe; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Bryce and Payton Ward. He also leaves father-in-law, Ed Schirle of Beausejour. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Edith Childe. He was born June 30, 1930 in Beausejour, and spent his youth there. He moved to Winnipeg in 1949 where he worked several jobs until he was employed by the City of Winnipeg in 1957 as a Regional Streets Inspector until his retirement in 1987. Prior to his illness, Ken enjoyed travelling with Lil and in later years relaxing at their cottage in Loni Beach, Gimli. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Service will terminate at the chapel. Cremation to follow.
