Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER HENRY KLASSEN Peacefully in his sleep on January 29, 2000 Peter passed away at Concordia Hospital at the age of 87 years. Peter was predeceased by his parents, siblings and twin sons. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Susan of 58 years of marriage; his son Richard of Winnipeg; his six daughters, Hildegarde (Eugene) Obirek, Evelyne (Eric) Tageson, both of Lac du Bonnet, Linda (Allan) Zasitko of Salmon River, NS, Sylvia (Nestor) Schur of Edmonton, AB, Dell (Bill) Corneil and Darlah (Dave) Klassen of Winnipeg; 14 grandchildren, Susan, Elliott, Sheila, Rhonda, Trevor, Tracy, Cory, Tammy, Everett, Wayne, Ryan, David, Karalee and Peter; and by his six great-grandchildren, Angela, April, Jordan, Landon, Jayden and Alyssa. Peter was born on October 9, 1912 and immigrated to Canada in 1924. He settled with his family in Arnaud, Manitoba. Peter married Susan Loewen on November 20, 1941. He began his career as a trucker and then purchased the Imperial Oil Bulk Agency in Dufrost, MB, later transferring to Lac du Bonnet in the early 1950s. His many interests included serving as a Town Councillor in Lac du Bonnet; his life in Lee River and in his retirement years playing whist and bingo and enjoying coffee at the Pioneer Club. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Surgery (second floor) at Concordia Hospital. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 1 at 2:30 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of The Cross, Lac du Bonnet. A second funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. from Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway 1 East at Green Acres Lane, Winnipeg. The interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Peters memory to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Manitoba Division, 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 9Z9.
