LEONARD ZOPPA SR. (PEEWEE) After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Leonard Zoppa Sr. passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2000, at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 68 years. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Anne; brothers, Edward, Peter and Steve and sister-in-law Carrie. Leonard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also a likeable gentleman with a wonderful sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and acquaintances at the Assiniboia Downs where he enjoyed his horse racing. Through his business ventures as a local entrepreneur with his restaurants and grocery store, he grew to know many people and built many friendships, which will be forever remembered. A private service will be held for Leonard on Tuesday, February 1. A graveside committal service will then follow with his final resting place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Our family extends special thanks to the home care workers and VONs, the doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital and to Leonards radiologist Dr. Ahed at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion.
