HELEN RUTH HARDWICK Peacefully on January 28, 2000 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Ruth Hardwick, aged 66 years, of Selkirk, beloved wife of Jack Hardwick. Ruth was predeceased by a son John Darrell; a brother Gerrald Butor and her parents, Adam and Marie Butor. She leaves surviving her husband John (Jack) a daughter Joanne Aileen; a brother John (Beth) Butor; sisters, Nellie (Harold) Brusewitz and Anna Whithers and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Ruth was a kind and generous woman and will be missed by all who knew her. Ruth enjoyed line dancing, golfing, curling, gardening, travelling and her African Violets. At her request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Peter Cain officiating. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, to Dr. Demsas, nurse and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and to Eileen and Marion who sat with Ruth in the hospital. Also special thanks to all her family and friends who came to say hello, fed us and cheer us at home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Selkirk General Hospital, Box 5000, Selkirk R1A 2M2 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg R3C 2B7.
