KARL HERBERT OLSON With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karl Herbert Olson, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on January 30, 2000 in the Lundar Personal Care Home. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Sesselia; sons, Larry (Gail), Oli and friend Adrienne; daughters, Margaret (Brian), Darlene (Fred) grandchildren, Patrick (Katie), Penny (Kelvin), Shawn, Aaron (Tracy), Vernon, Jodi, Eric (Susan), Wendy (Robert), Jennifer and Jason; great grandchildren, Steven, Branden, Hayley and Sidney. Along with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he is survived by two sisters, Bina Nord of Ashern and Violet Nord of Edson, AB; his sisters-in-law, Martha Olson, Edith Olson, Maude Brandson; Sesselias brother Finny (Ada) Brandson; along with many nieces, nephews and a host of good friends. Karl was born to Oli and Kristin Olson on July 19, 1913 at Ashern Point, MB. Oli and Kristin moved their young family to Peonan Point where Karl grew up. In 1942 he married Sesselia Brandson. They ranched on "The Point" with father Oli and brother Kris. In 1945, Oli retired and the "Olson Brothers" took over the ranch. Ranching was Dads life. In 1979 when he retired, a little bit of him died when he left his ranch on the Point. Work ethics were very important to Dad. If there was a job to do, everyone should get at it and get it done. During his retirement, Dad and Mom travelled on bus trips across Canada and down to the States and visited Iceland twice. No matter where Dad went, he would always relate the landscapes, sceneries and such to his "home on the Point". Karl was predeceased by his parents; his identical twin brother Kris and a brother Kitchener. Karl had been a resident of Lundar Personal Care Home since November 1998. The family would like to thank the staff for their caring ways. Also a thank you to the Home Care girls who looked after Dad at home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2 at the Faulkner Community Hall with Pastor Bob Lewis officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the hall. Interment to follow in the Faulkner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Patrick, Shawn, Aaron, Eric, Vernon and Jason. All those in attendance can consider themselves honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
