GERALD ALEXANDER GEORGE On January 28, 2000 Gerald (Jerry) Alexander George passed away. Jerry was born on July 23, 1915, in Glenavon, Sask., the son of Sidney and Margaret George. Jerry is survived by his son, David; three stepsons, Vince, Greg and Paul Laurin, as well as two grandchildren, Bobbie and Matthew (George), and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Laura, and second wife, Gladys; his brothers, Ted and Herb and his sister, Jean. Jerry started working in the Bank of Toronto in Saskatchewan in the 1930s. During the Second World War he was with the RCAF and stationed in Bella Bella, British Columbia. After the War he returned to the Bank of Toronto and for 25 years was the manager of the Toronto-Dominion Bank at Corydon and Niagara. Jerry retired from the bank in 1977. Jerry, Laura and son David moved to Transcona in 1950. Jerry was always a happy, outgoing, kind person who enjoyed people and their company. He was a member of The Kinsmen Club, The Transcona Legion and was an Elder in the Transcona Memorial United Church. For the last five and a half years he made his home at Transcona Place, where he had many friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 4, at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West, Transcona, with Reverend Jeff Cook officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Any donations may be made to The Manitoba Cancer Foundation Inc. or the Transcona Education Foundation Inc., 760 Kildare Ave. E., Winnipeg, Man., R2C 3Z4, in order to help students "stay in school" and continue their education.
