Date of Passing: Jan 31, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT E. GIRDEN After a lengthy illness, on Monday, January 31, 2000, Robert. E. Girden passed away at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 73 years. Bob leaves to mourn his wife of 51 years, Genevieve; sons, Al (Judy), Bud and Todd (Kim) and daughter Judy (Victor) as well as his beloved grandchildren, James, Ryan, Hayley, Tasia and Charlie. We know "Grumpy" will be their guardian angel. Dad was born in Winnipeg on June 18, 1926 and resided here all his life. He joined the Navy and served his country during the Second World War. Here he met the love of his life and partner, Genny. They were married on April 24, 1948 and began to raise their family. Bob worked at Imperial Oil for 37 years and retired in 1986. In compliance with Dads wishes, no public service will be held. Our family would like to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff of Grace General Hospital for all the care and compassion shown to Dad. Throughout this very difficult time, Dad managed to keep his sense of humour and a smile on his face. For this we will always be grateful. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Bobs memory may be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation of Canada (Manitoba Chapter), 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3Z7. "As long as I live I will always be glad That I was your daughter And you were my Dad..."
