ED BERGEN On February 1, 2000 at one in the afternoon, Ed Bergen passed away at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg. Surrounded by his family, Eds courageous struggle with cancer and other complications came to a close. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Isaac and Gertrude Bergen; his brother Alfred; his brother-in-law John Wall and his sister-in-law Adena. He will be cherished and lovingly remembered by his wife Lydia; his son Barry and wife Ruth Boehm; his daughter Brenda and husband Murray Lobe of Abbotsford, B.C. He is survived by his family Abe and Lena Bergen, Margaret Wall, George and Margaret Bergen, Neta and John Warkentin, Ben and Helen Bergen, Laura and Dave Friesen, Lena and George Wiebe, Walter and Darlene Bergen and their families. Also left behind to mourn are his wifes family, Sue Dyck, Nellie Buhler, Mary Unrau, Pete and Tina Buhler, Emily Buhler, Anne and Henry Rempel and their families. Ed loved people. His warm character and contagious laughter touched many lives. He will be fondly remembered by his many dear friends. Our thanks to the doctors and nurses at Concordia and a special thank-you to Susanne and Tara for their understanding and gentle manner. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street at Sargent, with interment following in Springstein Cemetery. Viewing Friday from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. and at the church prior to the service. If friends desire, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, Man., R3T 5K9, for Refugee Relief in the former Yugoslavia.
