REUBEN WILLIAM (BILL) GILLESPIE After a lengthy illness, on January 31, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre, with his family at his side, Bill passed away at the age of 64 years. Bill was predeceased by his twin brother, Robert in 1988 and his parents Henry and Clara Gillespie. He is survived by daughters, Holly of Calgary, Sherry Dawn Garten (Paul) of East Lockport and Kate Woolgar (Rob) of Calgary; grandchildren, Kelly, Jared and Candice Garten and sisters, Ellen McKenzie (Dick), Jean Cromarty (Gerald) and brother Oakley (Karen) of Creston, B.C., along with his special friend Alice and many nieces and nephews in British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario. Bill was born and raised in Teulon, Man., later moving to the Selkirk area and was employed at the Manitoba Rolling Mills for several years. He relocated to Calgary with his family and spent many years working in the Calgary Steelmill. Bill returned to Winnipeg in the late 1980s and worked as a commissionaire for the city and eventually retired due to poor health. Bill enjoyed playing baseball, curling, dancing but mostly bowling, winning many trophies with his keen ability. In later years he took great pleasure in spectator sports and was up to date on many tournaments and events. Bill also enjoyed playing bingo with his many friends. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 5, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Clements Church, Mapleton, with Rev. Canon Paul Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the St. Clements Anglican Church, Box 1-354-RR3 Selkirk, MB R1A 2A8. Rest in Peace Beloved Dad, Grandpa and Brother.
