WILLIAM (BILL) LINDSAY Peacefully, on Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at the Grace General Hospital, William (Bill) Lindsay passed away at the age of 89 years. A resident of Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home for the past three years, Bill formerly resided in the West End on Burnell Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born in Durban, Manitoba on February 15, 1910, he was the youngest child of Scottish immigrants, William Lindsay (Cupar Fife, Scotland) and Annie Abernethy (Glasgow, Scotland). Always a hard worker, Bill was employed in the lumber industry in southeastern Ontario and farming in western Manitoba. He moved to Winnipeg in 1942, where he spent the rest of his working life employed by Eatons in the downtown stores grocery department, until his retirement in 1975. Bill was a true nature lover, thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and an avid reader of the National Geographic. This was never more evident than in the last three years, as any visitor would notice the pictures he would hang in his room at Heritage Lodge. Bill never shied away from a good game of cards and enjoyed playing bingo. Bill is survived by his only daughter Marjorie and son-in-law John Ferla of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren, Mark (Karen) Ferla, Littleton, Colorado, Kathleen (Mike) Skeffington, Oakland, California, Kristin Ferla, Littleton, Colorado; great-grandson Cole Skeffington, Oakland, California and nephew David Temple and family of Surrey, B.C. Bills funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St. with Rev. Msgr. Michael Moore presiding. Interment will follow in the Garden of Prayer in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Deidra and Evana Hiebert, Paul Colman and Cole Skeffington. Active pallbearers will be Dante Silvestrin, Glen and Norman Gessell, Albert Hiebert and Bill and Andrew Colman. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the following families who have cared for Bill in the past years, Edera Ferla, AngelaMaria and Dante Silvestrin, Adriana and Albert Hiebert, AnnaMaria and Bill Colman, Betty and Louis Gessell. A special thanks to Donna Coutu and Sita Petersen at the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Bills memory to a charity of your choice.
