JOSEPH DAVID ALKSNE On Thursday, February 3, 2000 at his residence, Mr. Joseph David Alksne of Kleefeld passed away at the age of 88 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Wolfram (Brigite) Alksne of Kent, England, Harold (Debby) Alksne of Stony Mountain; one daughter Monica (John) Rempel of Kleefeld; ten grandchildren, one great-grandson; relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Elvira in 1983; one son Ewald; one daughter Ivy; one grandson David in infancy; three brothers, Paul, Werner, Roman; three sisters, Lydia, Irma, Veronica. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Steinbach, with Pastor Al Maier officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Winnipeg. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 8 between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel in Steinbach and at the church prior to the service. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to Mission for the Blind. Pallbearers for the service will be Norman Rempel, Ken Rempel, Elenore Hupe, Cherise Alksne, Daryl Alksne. Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach, 204-326-1351.
