JORDAN T. ETHANS Peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his family, Jordan T. Ethans passed away on February 4 at the age of 73. An extremely devoted husband, father, brother and son, Jordan is survived by his loving children, Harry (Margot Haig), Tom and Renee (Duncan Grant), his caring brother and wife Tino and Daphne, his adored grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Paula, Jennifer, Jordan and Ethan; nieces and nephews, Clancy (Andrea, Turner), Karen, (Pat) and our family in Greece. Jordan was predeceased by his parents, Themis and Ourania; his cherished wife Coula in 1992 and his precious son Jordie in 1998. We know you are together now. Jordan was born and raised in Winnipeg. At age ten, he proudly became a big brother to Tino, for whom he always provided guidance and support which was later reciprocated, especially during his battle with cancer. Jordan grew up on Garfield Street, where his daughter still resides in the family home and attended Laura Secord School, Gordon Bell High and University of Winnipeg where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Always a car lover, his friends will remember his famous cream coloured 1951 Olds98 convertible. In 1952, Jordan married his beautiful bride, Coula. Over the next six years, they had four children while living in Minneapolis, Sioux City and Omaha where Jordan worked for The Pillsbury Company. He proved himself early on and was quickly noted for his strong ability with numbers. At this juncture, Jordan was offered a promising career in Portland, Ore. but instead heeded his strong desire to return to his family and roots in Winnipeg. In 1962 Jordan started what was to be a lifelong career at James Richardson & Sons, beginning as a stockbroker and later becoming Vice President and Resident Manager of the flagship office in Winnipeg. Both personable and skilled, he was highly successful and respected in his field. Coula and Jordan had many, many dear friends, and enjoyed all of them immensely. They made many special trips together, most memorably to Mexico and Greece. The cottage at Ponemah was a place for family gatherings and Naples, Florida became a second home in recent years. Jordan was a huge sports fan, an avid golfer and squash player (twice the Manitoba Doubles Champ), and coached his childrens baseball teams. He was a member of the Manitoba Club, the Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club, St. Charles Country Club and Bears Paw Country Club. Jordan will always be remembered for his special gift of humour and laughter, his winning smile and his ability to engage everyone in a fine story. He took great pride in his family and treated us with great love, generosity and devotion. We will always remember and appreciate your wisdom and guidance and will continue to practise your strong family values. We will miss you profoundly. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Richard Blouw, Mrs. Blouw, the staff at Drake-Medox and HomeCare (VON, Riverview), Dr. Rabson, Dr. Morgan, Dr. Lezack, staff at St. Boniface and to all his friends who cared so much. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Jordans name to Cancer Care Manitoba. The family will conduct a private interment. A reception for friends who wish to pay their respects will be held at 57 Aldershot Blvd. on Tuesday, February 8 between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Dad, we will always remember you with love in our hearts.
