VERA BELLE LESLIE KENNEDY Vera Kennedy passed away peacefully at the Donwood Manor, Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 5, 2000 after a long life. She was 97 years old. Vera was born in Dover Foxcroft, Maine, U.S.A. She came to Canada in 1914 to the Swan River Valley. She spent most of her life in northern Manitoba and became a true Canadian. She was predeceased by her mother and father; her brother, Carl; half brothers, Donald and Charles; half sister, Maxine Moore; by her husbands, Bert Leslie and Charles Kennedy and her two sons, Robert and Norman Leslie and stepmother, Rhoda Moore. Vera will be forever loved and missed by her family, her friend Julie Vetters, careworkers and her children, Bertha Ray, Carl Leslie (Shirley), Vera (John) Falk, Laura Gardewine, Ialeen (Art) Pargeter, June (Harold) Imhoff, Darlyne (John) Punak and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; half sister Corrina Moore in California and half brother Allen Moore in California, U.S.A. The Leslie Kennedy family extends a sincere thank you to all those who helped make her stay at Donwood Manor more pleasant and happy in the later years. Thank you to all who cared for Vera and helped our family with their support through the years. A special thanks to staff on the second floor of Donwood Manor. Your kindness and compassion will always be truly appreciated. A special thank you for Kay (the Age & Opportunity lady) who faithfully visited Vera weekly, wherever she made her home. Thanks to Dr. Martens and her longtime friend Julie Vetters. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment Garden of Prayer, Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre.
