DOMENICA "MIMMA" RUSSO Peacefully on February 8, 2000 at St Boniface Hospital, Mimma Russo, wife of Giuseppe, was gracefully placed into Gods hands. She will be sadly missed by loving husband Giuseppe; children, Connie (Frank) Guzzi, Mishelle, and Mark; and grandchildren, David and Stefan. She is also survived by her brother Tony (Lina) Violi; sisters, Angela (Francesco) Cirillo, Rosetta (Angelo) Romeo, Maria(Carmine) Urciuoli; brother Giuseppe in Italy; and many nieces and nephews. Mimma was born on May 23, 1939 in Santa Christina, dAspramonte. She married in 1961 in Italy and immigrated to Canada shortly thereafter. She derived great satisfaction from being a loving wife and mother, raising her family. She taught her children to be strong, independent, and loving and was very proud of their accomplishments. Throughout the years, Mimma cherished time with her family. The times spent with David and Stefan were especially precious to her and she looked forward to the next visit. Mimma enjoyed cooking, gardening and walking. Most recently she found comfort from being with members of her prayer group. Many special summers were spent with her family and friends at Winnipeg Beach. Mimma was an outgoing, fun-loving person, who was loved by everyone that knew her. Despite her own difficulties, she supported and encouraged everyone around her. Recent travels to Philadelphia, Chicago, Mexico, Italy and France had given her great pleasure and enjoyment. Prayers will be said Friday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m., also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Entombment to follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. Pallbearers will be Frank Barbaro, Amadeo Capone, Rocco Giampaolo, Francesco Guzzi, Mark Popovich, Pat Romeo, Don Violi, Mauro Zappia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Mimmas memory to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. I, John, heard a voice from heaven say to me, "Happy are those who die in the Lord." (rev.14) LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
