EDITH WEISS (nee DOERN) The family wish to announce that Edith died at West Park Manor on February 7, 2000. At 95 years old, Edith maintained her wit and humour until the end and will be missed by her family. Edith is survived by her children, Rose Manning, Ruth Brais, Fred (Ida), Irene (Gerald) Sexton, James (Diane) her daughter-in-law Edith; also surviving are her grandchildren, Beverley (Ray) Bauschke, Lois Swanson, Heather (Don) OBear, Karla (Shawn) Elcock, Michael Weiss, Edward Brais, Stephen (Tracey) Sexton, Timothy Weiss, Robert (Stacey) Weiss, Lisa (Neil) Anderson; and 22 great-grandchildren as well as four great-great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Violet Smitke, Theresa (Fred) Knutt, Sophie Kein, Lillian (Herb) Schultz, Walter (Geraldine) Doern; and sisters-in-law, Bella and Elsie Doern; and many nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her husband Gustav; and son Wilfred; two daughters who died in infancy; and sons-in-law, Wilfred Manning and Marcel Brais; her parents, Rudolph and Theresa (Purpur) Doern; her step-mother Augusta; her brothers and sisters, Caroline (Otto) Clupp, Emma (Ernest) Bochinski, William, Frederick and Edward Doern, Dorothy (Gus) Scharein, Arnold Smitke and Gordon Kein; and grandson Carter Mullaney. Edith was born May 10, 1904 in Gretna, Man. Edith was very devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed time spent with them and also enjoyed cooking and gardening. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. The family wishes to extend to the staff of West Park Manor, their sincere appreciation to the wonderful care given to Mom over the past six years.
