Jacks term with the "Telephone" was interrupted during the Second World War when he served overseas from 1939 to 1942 wit R.C.A.F. 110 City of Winnipeg Squadron, later renamed 400 Squadron. Upon his return to Canada his service with the R.C.A.F. continued until the end of the war. A life long amateur radio enthusiast. Jack went by the call sign VE4KI, and it was through his amateur radio that he was able to maintain close contact with the many life long friends he made while in the service. The family would like to express special thanks to the Toyne Family for their ongoing support and concern and the nurses of Unit 5, Victoria General Hospital for their loving care during his illness. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
