Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE LESCHUK It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was loved for 95 years and left us on Sunday, February 6, 2000. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Anastasia, on September 21, 1970, and was the last of his family, parents, twelve brothers and sisters. Dad will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his son Morris and daughter-in-law Nancy and his four granddaughters, Lisa (Richard) Dutchak and their children, Alexa and Ben; Natalie (Guy) Chartier; Marlis (Patrick) Loughren and their daughter Rachael; Tiana (Tracy) Klimczak in Edmonton; many nieces, nephews in Ontario and the Ukraine, all of whom will remember his wonderful cooking and stories. Steve was born on January 8, 1905 in the Village of Machnivok, Region of Sokal, in Western Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1928 at the age of 23 and married Mom on November 23, 1930. Dad was a tailor, employed by S. Stall and Son for 34 years, until his retirement in 1971. His pleasure then was sewing coats for four special granddaughters. Dad was also proud of his Ukrainian heritage and successfully nourished this and other important family values. He became a member of the Workers Benevolent Association in 1936 and spent some years serving on its executive and remained in good standing till his death. He was an avid member of Ukrainian choirs and took part occasionally in amateur Ukrainian drama presentations. He served many years as financial secretary for the Ukrainian Childrens School, Point Douglas Division and also on the executive of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians. His keen wit, love of music and caring nature will be dearly remembered and missed by those who knew him. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff and volunteers who cared lovingly for our dad during his five years at Holy Family Nursing Home. Their constant loving care was a great comfort especially during his failing days. A special thank you to his good friend Joseph Petryk at Holy Family who helped to cheer his past few years. There will be a funeral service on Friday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard Dutchak, Guy Chartier, Patrick Loughren, Tracy Klimczak, Steve Leschuk and Bill Fummerton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steves memory to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or the Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2W 1T9. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.

Lydie Lefort - Posted by: lefort (aucune) on: Jul 31, 2014
