THELMA GEORGINA MAY HEYNES (nee COPELAND) On February 8, 2000 at the Emerson Hospital, Thelma passed away with family at her side at the age of 86 years. She was predeceased by her husband Cyril in 1989. She is survived by her sister Genevieve Franks, Emerson; her niece Gayle (Gordon) Johnston and their family of Dartmouth, NS, nephew Lyndon Franks and his son Desmond of Winnipeg; along with many cousins and caring friends. Thelma was blessed with an incredible memory, having the ability to recall any name, date, event etc. to the very end. Thelma was very dedicated to her family. She took great pride in her handicraft projects, namely crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed tending to her large assortment of house plants. Thelma was a lifelong member of St. Andrews United Church, Emerson. Special thanks and sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Winkler, Morris and Emerson Hospitals for their kind and compassionate care given Thelma. The funeral service will be held on February 11, at 2:30 p.m. from St. Andrews United Church, Emerson, with Rev. Lesley Calder officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Knutt, Brian Smith, Barry Smith, Russell Calder, Murray Calder and Glen Pappel. Interment will be at the Lake Louise Cemetery, four miles north of Emerson on Hwy. 75. Viewing will be at the church prior to the service. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrews United Church, Emerson or to the new Emerson Health facility.
