MICKEY DOCTOROFF Peacefully, with his family by his side, on February 10, 2000, at St. Boniface Hospital. Mickey was the beloved husband of 57 years of Anne; devoted father of Phyllis and Aubrey Himelstein; grandfather of Evan Himelstein and Marli and Patrick Flynn and brother to Anne Maister and Rose Girtle. Mickey was born in West Kildonan on a dairy farm on June 25, 1918. He was predeceased by his mother and father and six brothers and sisters. He was a Second World War veteran in the Air Force. Mickey was an avid bowler and bridge player, loved to walk in Kildonan Park and attend the races at Assiniboia Downs. Many thanks to the devoted home care workers, Marilyn Barkley and Raoul Aibaobo. A special thanks to Dr. Fine and the staff at the Dialysis Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Services will be held at Rosh Pina Synagogue, 123 Matheson Ave. at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2000. Interment at Rosh Pina Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at his home at 502 Hartford Ave. Pallbearers will be Evan Himelstein, Patrick Flynn, Les Baker, Phillip Baker, Jack Buchalter and Hershey Doctoroff. Honorary pallbearers are Abe Himelstein, Meyer Silver and Jack Moss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Mickeys memory, to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 200 - 55 Donald St., 989-0800.
