Agnes Anne's first husband, the father of Raymond and Joseph, was killed in an air raid at Andalsnes, Norway, in the evening of 1 May 1940. Joseph Gibson Mann's unit, 1Bn Green Howards, were awaiting evacuation on HM Ships. Joseph was first listed as killed in action, then missing believed killed. Agnes had to live with not knowing his fate until his grave was identified and reported by the Germans in the fall of 1941. It was heart warming to read how life turned to the better for Agnes. I have done extensive research on the events in 1940 and shall be glad to share this information with the family. - Posted by: Glenn Murray (Historical research) on: May 11, 2018
