PEARL TERHOCH With the dignity that was her life, Pearl Terhoch, aged 77 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2000 at the Sharon Home, in Winnipeg, Man. Pearls memory will be forever cherished and celebrated by her devoted husband Kurt; by her beloved children, Marvin and Sherrin Terhoch, Leonard Terhoch and Liz Scully, and Cheryl and Martin Billinkoff; and by her loving grandchildren, Marshall and Sherry, Andrew and Jodi, Iain, Erin and Jim, Daniel, Mira, Sierra, and Sasha. Born in Galizia, Poland on October 27, 1922, she came to Canada in 1930. Pearl met Kurt and they married on September 10, 1944. They were together for 55 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Molly Rosenberg; her sister Sara Wayborn; and her brothers, Maurice and Abie Rosenberg. She is survived by her sister Rochelle Neuringer, of Asheville, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Lil Rosenberg, Pearl Rosenberg and Ann Terhoch; brothers-in-law, Rudi Terhoch, Al Wayborn and Sheldon Neuringer; and her extended family. When it came to her family, especially her children and grandchildren, Pearls love and support was unconditional. They were her life. She gave them strength and guidance. For her extended family and friends, she offered the same. She was wise when it came to people and life, and her door was always open. She was a storyteller. She embraced her familys history and loved the Yiddish language. She made people laugh, even when they didnt understand a word of Yiddish. One of her many gifts was her ability to see humour in life, no matter how challenging the moment. Pearl was an unusually independent woman with a complex spirit. She could be the life of the party, yet valued her privacy. While strong and self-assured, she remained warm and tender. Although a person to be reckoned with, Pearl was always present when anyone needed her help. And, somehow she always knew when it was needed. Pearl and Kurt cared very deeply about each other. They started with very little, worked hard all their lives, and succeeded in making a strong life together. Kurts care and devotion during Pearls illness remains an inspiration to us all. The funeral services, officiated by Rabbi Allan Green, were held on Sunday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bnai Abraham Synagogue. Interment followed at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service were Marshall, Andrew and Iain Terhoch; Daniel Billinkoff, Jim Harris, and Mitchel Rosenberg. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Frank, Rudi Terhoch, Al Wayborn, Maier Henoch, Abie Feierstein, Rudy Lowenstein, Wally Guberman, Dave Silver, Av Katz, Harry Tapper, Max Tapper, and Morris Henoch. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Sharon Home for their loving care during the last two years. Special thanks are extended to Sandy, Jane and Mrs. Dhanjal and the exceptional staff on 3B. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sharon Home or the charity of your choice. Everyone has special memories of Pearl. She deeply honoured our lives. We proudly carry her love and compassion, her strength and determination. Although gone from this world, Babi remains within our hearts forever.
