NOELLE De WOLFE (nee REBCHUK) Peacefully, in the presence of family and friends at Toronto General Hospital, on Wednesday, February 9, 2000, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Predeceased by mother Olga; father Slaw and brother Brian. Survived and loved by husband Gordon; son Brian; brother Chris; sister-in-law Terri Sikora; niece Jacqueline and nephew Alexander. Noelle was born in Winnipeg on Christmas Day, 1944. She completed her formal education in Winnipeg, graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1969 with an MSW. She moved to Toronto in 1969 and after a few years with the Addiction Research Foundation spent the bulk of her working life as a Social Worker with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. In both her personal and professional life Noelle was an advocate for children and was proud that she had never let a kid down (and none of them ever let her down either). Her opinions and insights were valued and sought out by her family, her friends and her co-workers. She was admired and will be remembered by all who knew her for her leadership, compassion, courage, outspokenness and humour. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, travel and bargains. Noelles family is profoundly grateful for the love and support given to her and them by friends, neighbours, health-care professionals and colleagues throughout the course of her illness. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., east of the Jane subway from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, and 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Mass at St. Joan of Arc Church, 1701 Bloor St. W., (one block east of Parkside Dr. and Keele Street) on Saturday, February 12, at 11:00 a.m. Cremation. A Memorial Service will be held on Winnipeg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Noelle has requested that donations be made to Marygrove Camp, c/o St. Vincent de Paul Society, 240 Church St., Toronto, ON, M5B 1Z2, or the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, 610 University Ave., Toronto, ON, M5G 2M9.
