Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Nick in 1975; father Alex Klymkiw in 1959; mother Katherine (Stupnisky) in 1979 and aunt Stella Koroscil in 1991. Left to cherish her memory are her dear daughter Lesia (Don) granddaughters, Ruth (David) and their children, Daniel, Rebecca and Max; Miriam (Lily) and Annette (John) brother Gerald Klymkiw; nephew Robert Hoffman; best friend Margaret Benton and daughters, Rose, Shirley and God-child Diane; special uncle and aunt Nick and Ann Stupnisky of Rossburn; cousin Jerry Stepnisky (Vera) and children, Jeffrey, David, Laura and Marissa of Edmonton; cousin Bud Stupnisky (Shelly) and children, Jennifer and Robbie of Morris; nephew and niece Terry Sherman (Viola) and son Grayson of Edmonton; uncle Michael Koroscil; cousin Fran of Highland, Michigan. Born in Olha in 1910 and raised in Winnipeg, Phyllis graduated from St. Johns Technical School and Normal School for teacher training. Proud to follow in her fathers footsteps, she taught in numerous one-room country schools in the Rossburn area where in the early years she taught Ukrainian lessons after her regular school day. She also taught at Rossburn Elementary School. Phyllis love of children and music were always present in her teaching. Her enthusiasm and dedication were especially reflected in the frequent concerts where she taught children to sing and recite in both languages, play musical instruments and dance. Her interest in music continued after retirement and widowhood, as she pursued ballroom dancing which involved frequent travel, competition and trophies. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation of the compassionate, professional care for Phyllis by Dr. Louis Chung, Dr. Raj Ahluwalia and all the wonderful staff at the Maples Personal Care Home. If friends so desire, contributions can be made in her name to the Diabetes Foundation of Manitoba, The Sunshine Fund of the Maples Personal Care Home or to the Manitoba Theatre for Young People. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 14 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, entrance at Aubrey Street at 4:00 p.m. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
