Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES EDWARD CONWAY Charlie died on Sunday, February 13, 2000, at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his father George, mother Caroline (Lena) and a sister Mary. Charlie is survived by his wife Alma; brother John (Jack) and wife Pauline; sister Eleanor Dodds; nephew-in-law and wife, Clive and Ollie Bate; and several nieces and nephews, and long-time family friend, Anna Kidd. Charlie was born in Fort Rouge, Winnipeg, on May 7, 1916 and lived in the area practically all his life. He received his education at Lord Roberts and Kelvin Schools. In 1940, Charlie enlisted in the Army Service Corps and was stationed in England serving with the Postal Unit until 1945. Upon his return to civilian life, Charlie was employed by Canada Post as a Letter Carrier until his retirement in 1978. For many years, Charlie and his wife Alma, thoroughly enjoyed their summer retreat at Clearwater Bay where they spent many happy hours fishing, a sport they both loved. The last four years of his life, Charlie lived at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. The staff there offered him consistent, caring attention and the family expresses sincere appreciation to all who were involved with Charlies care. In accordance with Charlies wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 1932, Winnipeg R3C 3R2. Bardals Funeral Home, Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, in charge of arrangements.
