As a young kid growing up in Winnipeg in the late 80's, l lived for my weekend visits to Wally's Stamp Den. I can still see it in my head, crystal clear. He had pie plates full of coins, sorted by price, (5 for a dollar! Couldn't go wrong!) and a big black binder full of foreign banknotes. I was a hard working kid and for many years any time l had a few bucks to spend I'd beg one of my parents to bring me there. Wally was such a great and generous man, he was thrilled with his customers' enthusiasm and never hesitated to show and talk about the coins, banknotes, and stamps that were behind him. Because of his influence, I've had a lifelong interest in history, art, and foreign cultures. I remember him showing me a 'man on the mast' Bluenose stamp... that was the one to get! What a great place, thank you Wally, may you rest in peace. - Posted by: Ty (Customer) on: Sep 22, 2018
