PETER W. MORRIS
Date of Passing: Feb 14, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER W. MORRIS On Monday, February 14, 2000, at the Deer Lodge Centre, Peter made his transition at the age of 78 years. Left with treasured memories are his wife Margaret and devoted family; son Robert (Philomena), granddaughters, Brittany, Stephanie and Alanna; son Donald (Shelly), grandson Connor, granddaughter Kiah; sister Betty Kelly of Red Lake, Ont.; as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many close friends, especially Francois (Francie), Bob (Bridget) and Pierre. Peter was born in 1921 in England and came to Canada in 1926. He grew up in Toronto and served overseas from 1939 until 1943 when he was brought back to Canada after being injured in Sicily. He was a draftsman in Toronto and then took up residence in Winnipeg. For a time, Peter was involved with Scouts Canada and volunteered with charities as he could. His career in the culinary field took him away from home for long periods. He worked all over Northern Canada in many construction sites as a cook where he made many friends over the years. Many of Peters summers were spent at the family cottage near Riding Mountain (Thomas Lake) where he loved to fish. The loves of Peters life before his illnesses took over, were his family, travelling and fishing. He will be remembered for his endearing smile and wonderful sense of humour. His unspoken philosophy, "Humour is the lubricant of life" and "when trying is not enough, let go and let God." In keeping with Peters wishes, a private family service will be held in Wojciks Funeral Chapel with an interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to join together and share their memories on Thursday, February 17 between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. at 23 Battleford Bay in Winnipeg. Our family wishes to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for making Peters last days comfortable and easier. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in Peters memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
