Mom will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Lori-Ann Hacking (David) and Carla Hembroff (Jim) grandchildren, Kendra and Tom Hacking and Kendal and Tanya Hembroff; and her sister Irene Tillett. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1970. She was also predeceased by brothers, Fredrick, Charles, Victor, Glen, George, Tom and John, sisters, Della, Eva and Rose. Mom was born and raised in Petersfield, MB and was part of a large, loving family. At the tender age of 13 she left home to attend high school in Boissevain where she lived with her uncle Dr. Fred Bird and his wife Irene. At 16, she graduated receiving the Governor Generals Medal of Canada. Following high school, she earned her teaching degree in Winnipeg and then taught school for seven years in Emerson and Clandeboye. During this time Mom met and married our Dad on June 30, 1942. After marrying, Mom devoted her time attending to her familys care. She loved to bake, knit and read. Most of all she loved her familys company. We will cherish your memory Mom and your kindness and love will live forever in our hearts. May you enjoy the peace and companionship of those with whom you have now been reunited. At Moms request, cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Georges Anglican Church, Wakefield, MB with Rev. Canon Paul Smith officiating. Interment of ashes to follow in the churchyard cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Vista Park Lodge for the excellent care given to our Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
