HENRY SMIECHOWSKI Henry Smiechowski peacefully passed away on Monday, February 14, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1971; and his cousin Stella Lachowicz in 1988. Henry leaves to mourn his daughter Christine (Ian) Fraser and grandchildren, Mackenzie and Maddie; as well as relatives in Poland. Henry was born in Wilno, Poland December 15, 1915. After the war Henry immigrated to Canada from Poland where he finally settled in Winnipeg in the early 1950s. He was employed by Swift Canada until his retirement in 1980. His love of gardening kept him busy during his retired life. Henry was an active member of Holy Ghost Parish, SPK and Legion No. 246. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating. Viewing will be at the church from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Rest in Peace, Dad and Grandpa Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements; 586-8044.
