ROSE PETERSON Peacefully, after a short illness, on Monday, February 14, 2000 our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 85. Rose was born in Fisher Branch on December 31, 1914. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Stephen and Annie Wozniak. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister Marie Uhryniuk and her husband Oscar. Mom was an accomplished violinist and always loved music. She was actively involved in the Swedish Community. Her many community activities included founding charter member of the Scandinavian Centre, Strinberg Vasa order of America, Swedish old timers, Strinberg Sisters, Sylvia recreational Company Ltd (Vasa Lund), Canada Press and Manitoba Tourist Association. Her pride and joy was being founding publisher and editor of the Scandinavian news. Moms career was spent in tourism. She had businesses in both Canada and the U.S. She was actively involved with the business up until her death. She is survived by her daughter, Audrey (Wayne) Horsman; son Allan (Victoria) Peterson and grandchildren, Carl (Brenda) Horsman, Valerie (Jeoffery) Huesken, Angie (Ron) MacIntosh and Laura (Murray) Peterson-Campbell and one great-granddaughter, Holly Huesken; sister Olga (William) Miller. As well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fisher Branch. Interment to follow at the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Aoki, Dr. Kraut and Dr. Gudmundson, as well as all the nurses and staff of Health Sciences Centre, unit GH4. We thank you for your patience, understanding and thoughtfulness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of ones choice.
