LESLIE HERBERT "JIGGER" JOHNSON Leslie Herbert "Jigger" Johnson of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away at Deer Lodge Centre on Sunday, February 13, 2000 at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret on November 27, 1991, by his parents Herbert and Jessie Johnson of Essex, England, by his sister Dorothy and her husband William Watts of Essex, England, and by his previous wife Leona of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is survived by his loving sister Marjorie and husband Charlie Hill of Essex, England, his niece Kathy, her husband Frank Price and their family, by his nephew Raymond Watts, his wife Anne and their family, and by his nephew Victor Watts, his wife Doris and their family. Les was born at Croydon, Surrey, England on February 10, 1913. He was employed at the Guildhall in the City of London for a number of years and was called up for Military Service with the Imperial Forces in 1940 where he served with the Northamptonshire and Bedforshire regiments seeing service in England, North Africa and Italy. He was discharged and returned to England in 1946. He emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1947, working in the printing trade. He also worked in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver and came to Winnipeg in 1953 and was employed with the Public Press division of UGG for 23 years taking early retirement in June of 1976. He was a member of Imperial Veterans Branch 84 Legion. He enjoyed golfing and curling with the Thistle Seniors and Pembina Old Timers also with the Windsor and Fort Rouge Seniors golf where many good times were spent. He was very grateful to his late wife Margarets family, Heather and Cam Roylance as well as their family and friends of Mississauga, Ontario for the very good times that he spent with them all. There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 100 Olivia Street, Wpg. MB, R3E 0V9 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
