MICHAEL SOLINSKI September 1, 1916 - February 16, 2000 Suddenly, at his residence on February 16, 2000, Michael, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 83. He leaves to mourn his wife of 60 years, Rose; daughter Leona (Bill) Moroz; son Leonard (Marion) Solinski; daughters, Pat (Mike) Denis and Christie Solinski. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Betty-Lynn, Gail, Rhonda, Roger, Mary-Jane, Janet, Larry, Jeffrey, Robin and Lonnie; his 13 great-grandchildren and one sister Mary Snezyk. Mike was born to Anne and Casmir Solinski on September 1, 1916. He was raised and educated in Pine Ridge, later moving to Transcona where he had resided for 26 years. During the Second World War Mike joined the army and served with the Princess Patricia Light Infantry in England, Holland and Germany. He had been a loyal employee with Domtar Industries for 31 years. Mike was an avid golfer for years, spending his mornings at Transcona Golf Course. He enjoyed playing in the yearly "Geege" Solinski golf tournament with his family, leaving us many happy memories. He also found great companionship playing cribbage with his grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted by Father Wencee on Monday, February 21 at 10:30 a.m. with viewing prior to the service from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. Burial to follow in the family plot at Birds Hill Park Cemetery. His pallbearers will be his devoted grandchildren, Larry, Jeffrey, Roger, Lonnie, Betty-Lynn and Gail. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a favourite charity or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, R3B 2H8. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
