Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER MALANDRAKIS On Wednesday, February 16, 2000, Peter Malandrakis passed away after a long battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Katherine; his children, Helen and Nick; his mother Helen; his brother Dimitrios; and sister-in-law Athina (in Greece) his sister-in-law Pat; and brother-in-law Peter; his nephew Chris and his wife Trista; and his niece Katina and her husband Peter. Born on April 25, 1936 in Hania, Crete (Greece), Peter attended technical college after high school in Athens. In 1960, he moved to Canada and immediately began his long career in the restaurant industry. He served as manager of the dining room at the Winnipeg International Airport (formerly Cara Operations) for 15 years, and later as Maitre d and manager of the Velvet Glove Dining Room at the Lombard Hotel (formerly The Westin Hotel) for almost 20 years until his retirement in 1997. During his long and illustrious career in the hospitality industry, Peter won many awards, but the friends he made were what mattered most to him. Special thanks to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre Cancer Clinic and at Riverview Health Centre for their care and support. Prayers will be held on Sunday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave., with Rev. Dimitrios Gianniou officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peters memory to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
