STANLEY ANTHONY RODNISKI Peacefully, following a lengthy illness, Stanley passed away on February 15, 2000 at St. Josephs Residence, with his family at his side. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Anna Rudniski; brothers, Walter, John, Mike and Joseph; sisters, Frances, Mary and Nellie; and his beloved wife Mary in February, 1988. Left to cherish his memory are son Gerald (Maureen) daughter Joan (Robert) Claydon; grandchildren, David (Wendy), Jennifer, Jason; great-grandchildren, Kristen and Cody, all of Winnipeg; sister Julia (Tony) Zatylny and sister-in-law Annie Rudniski of Raymore, Sask. and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Stan, the seventh of nine children, was born January 31, 1915 on the farm near Wishart, Sask. In 1938 he moved to Winnipeg and enrolled in auto mechanics at Musker Engineering. After graduating in 1940 he worked at a local GM dealership. He met Mary in 1939 and they were married in November, 1940. He enlisted with the RCAF in 1942 - 1946 and was stationed for a time in St. Thomas, Ont. working as an aeroengine mechanic. After the war, Stan worked at several auto dealerships in the City and in 1958 he began work at CNR until his retirement in 1979. Stan loved nature and had a vast knowledge of wildlife, particularly birds. He enjoyed sports, especially football and hockey. He loved big band, country & western music, and taught himself to play guitar and accordion in his youth. Dad spent many happy hours recording and editing wildlife videos, family home movies, etc. He was an active member of St. Anthonys Parish for many years. After Marys passing he resided with daughter Joan and family until 1994 when he moved to St. Josephs Residence. He remained active and served as President and Vice-President of the Residents Council and on several committees and enjoyed many activities. Dad will always be fondly remembered for his zest of life, love of family, friends and nature, and his keen sense of humour. Special thank you and appreciation to the staff and volunteers of St. Josephs Residence for their kindness, friendship and wonderful care for Dad. Pallbearers will be David and Jason Claydon, Robert Grycko, Brian Huff, Jared Sibbald, and Dennis Zatylny. Prayers will be held 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg with Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Funeral mass will be held at St. Anthonys of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Avenue at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 21 with Msgr. Comeault, P.H.V.F. officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, R3J 0L3, or to St. Josephs Residence, 1149 Leila Avenue, Winnipeg, R2P 1S6.
