GARNET WALTERS Courageously, on Friday, February 18, 2000, Garnet Walters passed away after a brief battle with cancer, with his family at his side. Garnet was predeceased by his parents and his brother Toby. He will be sadly missed and cherished by his wife Audrey; sons, Jimmy, Jeff (Jen) daughters, Kim, Michelle (Ron) and Danielle (Chris). He also leaves behind six beautiful grandchildren, Keith, Brittany, Tanner, Hilary, Sunny and Noah as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and countless friends. He was born on March 30, 1943 in Selkirk, Man. For most of his working life he was involved in Heating and Plumbing and greatly enjoyed being employed at TNT Plumbing and Heating. Garnet was kind, generous and genuinely concerned with the well being of others. He could be described as a jack of all trades and was always ready and willing to try to fix anything. His hobbies included fishing and camping. Garnet took great pleasure in making his home and yard an enjoyable place to be for his family, and in particular enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren in his garage making "things". The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses on the surgical ward of the Selkirk Hospital with a special thanks to Carol and Heather for their compassion and kindness which helped us through a very difficult time. Last but not least Garnet will be extremely missed by his three dogs, Frazier (his fishing buddy) and Wessie and Maggie who made him feel that every day he was special. In accordance to Garnets wishes cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, February 22, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Debbie Vit officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
