HAROLD KENNETH JOSEPH McINERNEY September 28, 1927- February 21, 2000 Early February 21, Harry passed from our lives peacefully but suddenly leaving his beloved wife, Ann; his children, Betty, Patty (Herman), Michael (Johanne) and Cathy (Tony) his grandchildren, Tara, Kerry, Lauren, Catherine, Shauna, Mallory, Ryan, James, Genevieve and Dayna. He was anticipating the birth of his first great-grandchild due in early March. Harry gave freely of his love to the very end. Harry was a true Renaissance man. His career started when he lied about his age and tried to join the Armed Forces during the Second World War. He had a brief stint in the Army before joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and also served on the Edmonton City Police Force. It was then that Harry realized his future must include our mother, Annette Ryan, his childhood sweetheart who was back home in Saint John, New Brunswick where they married. Harry continued in the army as a Military Police Officer eventually ending his career as a captain. He regaled his family for hours on end with story after story and song after song. During Dads varied work life, Ann travelled with Harry from one end of the country to the other. All of his children were born in different cities. He lived for some time in Ignace, Ontario with Ann and Cathy where Dad was a major force behind the establishment of the French Catholic School. He was their first chairman of the board. Mom and Dad lived for seven years in Dryden, Ontario in the middle of his 13 year career with Investors Group. Dad would often quote Robert Service with an unparalleled zeal and enthusiasm. Many a glass leapt off the table during his spirited renditions of the Shooting of Dan McGrew. The family will always cherish the memory of Dad at the party he so lovingly and proudly hosted on February 13, to honour Moms 73rd birthday. Prayers for Harry will be held at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 St. John Brebeuf Place in River Heights at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral mass will also be held at St. John Brebeuf, 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0973
