Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDA MARGARET "SCOTTY" WALKER (nee MAXWELL) February 4, 1913 - February 21, 2000 With members of her Winnipeg family by her side, Hilda passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre on Monday, February 21, 2000. Hilda was predeceased by much loved husband Harold Wesley Walker in 1950; her mother Mollie Maxwell, father Magnus Maxwell and her sisters Edith Allan and Vimy Robinson. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her sister Rose Burns and her husband Sandy; nieces Mary Veitch, Mary Jane McIntyre and their families, all of Winnipeg. She will also be sadly missed by her family of nieces and nephews in Vancouver. Her memory will be cherished by many friends in Winnipeg, especially Shirley Dickinson, Meg Rivest and Jean Lancaster. Hilda worked for the Canadian Medical Corps. In their Military Registrars office at Deer Lodge Centre for 28 years. She was especially known for her strong work ethic and was a friend to everyone she met. She will long be remembered for her dependability, cheerful disposition and her skill at keeping a confidence. A loyal, fun-loving person she will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to call her friend. Before moving to Deer Lodge Centre in January of 1999, Hilda lived at Lions Place for more than 12 years. She truly enjoyed all the activities, programs and special events and participated fully with great joy in all the "happenings". She also valued and enjoyed the many friendships she made amongst the residents. She personified all the traits of a good friend throughout her life and in all her relationships. She was gentle, kind, steadfast, generous, loving, loyal, affable, content with herself, and she never spoke a bad word about anyone. Hilda was indeed, "a care-givers dream". Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, in the Deer Lodge Centre Chapel, 2109 Portage Avenue with the Rev. Canon Barbara Barnett officiating. Hilda was blessed by the skill, devotion and caring of the staff at Deer Lodge Centre, including her physician Dr. G. Griggs. We thank all of you most sincerely for providing such a wonderful atmosphere for all of us.
