Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS MICHAEL SEMENCHUK Peacefully, on Sunday, February 20, 2000 at the Holy Family Nursing Home, with his family at his side, Nicholas Michael Semenchuk (Mike) aged 83 years. Mike was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen on November 15, 1976; his father Andrew in 1959; his mother Amelia in 1950; his brother William 1987; brother Joseph in 1930 and sister Anne in 1925. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Andrew and Bill; daughter-in-law Lisa; grandson, Michael Allan who was the light of his life; sister-in-law Helen Semenchuk; nieces, Beatrice Zulak and Cecilia Duff; brother-in-law John Patterson and sister-in-law Frances Dennison. Mike was a long-time resident of the Lockport area who began his working life as a teacher and was awarded the coveted McIntyre Scholarship in his first year of teaching. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. After the war Mike continued his teaching career as well as working weekends at Lockport Motors, which later became Lockport Appliances. In 1962 he became sole owner of Lockport TV and Appliances and retired in 1993 leaving the business to his sons. Mike was a member of the Ukrainian Professional Business Mens Club and a lifetime member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Gonor. Mike was a very loving, patient and devoted father, who took great pride in his family. He so loved his time with his grandson and namesake Michael. Mike was a kind and generous person with a deep sense of community and a rich spiritual life. His happiest times were spent with family, friends and song and Mike would often be the life of the party. He had a warm and loving personality that touched the lives of so many people. his positive outlook on life was an inspiration to us all. He loved, was loved and will be missed by all his family and friends. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk with Msgr. V.J. Bozyk, Father Harry Oliynek and Rt. Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 6297 Henderson Hwy., Gonor, with Father Harry Oliynek and Rt. Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Jim Duff, David Zulak, Allan Striowski, Sam Tyler, Larry Stelmach and Gord Spearing. Crossbearer will be Henry Semenchuk. The family sincerely appreciated the kindness and care provided by the staff on 5A of the Holy Family Nursing Home. Flowers are gratefully declined.
