Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ONISHKO It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, John Onishko, on February 22, 2000. He was the dearly beloved husband of Doris; loving father of Sandra (Dennis) Kozoway, Terry (Sherry) Onishko and Tracy Onishko and their mother Bernice; stepfather of Cyndy (Jim) Park, Ronnie (Don) Colvin, Val (Stephen) Cottier and Terry (Suzanne) Otchenash. John was a loving and proud grandfather of ten beautiful grandchildren, Bradley, Michael, Kaylin, Chris, Kyle, Kim, Paul, Jill, Richard, and Jacqui. Also in mourning is his sister Ann (Walter) Warrenchuk, brother Casmir Onishko; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his father Fred in 1968, mother Nellie in 1993; and brother Tony in 1990. John was born on January 16, 1931 in Selkirk and lived in the immediate area all his life. He was employed at the Manitoba Rolling Mills for 41 years and received a 40 year Safety Award upon his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed his retirement by gardening and yard work, maintaining his and his childrens vehicles, and his numerous wood projects that we all take pride in having. John will be remembered as "Gentle" John by his friends and family for his extreme patience and loving nature. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Fr. Harry Oliynek officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the East Selkirk Cemetery on his mothers grave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 101-55 Donald St., Winnipeg. We pray that when you left us, You knew how much we cared. No one knows the sorrow that we share, When the family meets and youre not there. No longer in our lives to share, But in our hearts youre always there. Your memory is our keepsake, From which well never part. God has you in His loving arms, We have you in our hearts. There you will remain Till God calls us one by one, And the chain will link again." VICHNAYA PAMYAT Eternally Remembered Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
