MERNIE D. KOZIE Suddenly on Monday, February 21, 2000, Mernie D. Kozie, age 60 years, left our hearts with the fondest of memories. Mernie is survived by his parents, Steve and Ann Oleksewycz; brother Allan Oleksewycz (Debbie) and nephews, Sean and Drew; sister-in-law Regina Kozie and nephew Christopher Kozie; along with numerous family and friends. Mernie was predeceased by his brother Joseph in 1994. Mernie was born October 1, 1939 in Selkirk, MB. Mernie was a very gentle and considerate man with a deep inner spiritual strength. He was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus St. Anne Council No. 10551, and a longtime member of the North Kildonan Group. Prayers will be said on Thursday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Rt. Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. Interment will follow at Tyndall Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walter Kalinski, Christopher Kozie, Clarence Kozie, Charles Belsham, Ken Martin and Ken Oneschuk. If friends so desire, donations in Mernies memory may be made to the St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund, 455 Douglas Ave., Winnipeg, MBR2G 0Y3.
