Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE CUMMINGS 1911-2000 Our beloved mother and grandmother, Anne Cummings, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Sunday, February 20, 2000 at the St. Boniface General Hospital. She was predeceased in October, 1999, by her soul mate and loving husband of 58 years, Donald Scott Cummings. Left to cherish Annes memory is her daughter Heather Burkett and her husband Richard and her treasured granddaughter Gillian. Anne also leaves her brother Edward Wareham; and sisters-in-law, Frances Lottin, Olive Cummings and Devona Wareham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Eleanor Wareham; and by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and George Turner; as well as Donalds siblings James, Isabel, Bessie (Bromley) and most recently Molly (Murison). Anne was the heart of our family. She brightened every day with her positive outlook on life and her rich generosity of spirit. Many adopted her as confidant and friend loving her grace, integrity, humour and wisdom. She was able to take great pleasure in the achievements of others and both young and old discovered her inner strength when they sought her support. Anne was born on November 11, 1911 near Brandon, Man. and grew up in the Moore Park District until she moved into Winnipeg where she became a store manager and later a mother. Anne was a member of Westworth United Church for over 40 years serving as a Life Member of the U.C.W. Previously she had been the church organist at Creeford Church for over ten years. She quietly volunteered her time largely in schools and senior citizens homes. She held many executive positions, including the president of the Winnipeg and Provincial Council of Womens Life Members Association. One of her dearest achievements was receiving an Honorary Life Membership from the Council of Women of Winnipeg. A celebration of Annes life will be held on Thursday, February 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg with the Rev. J. Clark Saunders officiating and the Rev. Dr. Eleanor Geib saying prayers. Interment will follow at Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Pallbearers will be Evan Richardson, Gordon Murison, Ron Kozak, Terry Wareham, Walter Latter, Chad Richardson, Brian Turner and Ross Murison. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23 in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of St. Boniface General Hospital and, in particularly, the staff on Palliative Care for their extraordinary kindness and dedication. They also wish to thank friends and relatives for the many visits and loving gestures while Anne was in care. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Annes memory may be made to a charity of your choice. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
