JAMES RICHMOND ATKEY Jim died of cancer on February 19, 2000, in Toronto. Jim was the son of the late Max Atkey and Rhetta Barss Atkey. He is mourned by his sisters, Ann Atkey (Michael Dewson) of Toronto and Allison Atkey (Cliff Burke) of Winnipeg and their children, Baird, John, Sean and Claire; his godson Bradley Blahnik; as well as relatives and countless friends in both Toronto and Winnipeg. Jim was born in Toronto on July 4, 1947 and moved to Winnipeg in 1958. He graduated from St. James Collegiate and Red River College. He worked at Great West Life for 20 years, moving back to Toronto in 1985. Jim was back in Winnipeg every summer to visit friends with cottages at Nutimik and near Kenora. In Toronto, he was a regular visitor to the airport picking up family and friends coming to visit. A Memorial service is being held in Toronto. Instead of sending flowers, Jim has asked that you take a friend for lunch.
