ISABEL McCONNELL HAMERTON Isabel McConnell Hamerton, widow of Roderick S. J. Hamerton, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2000 at the Grace Hospital. She is survived by her three nephews, Blair and Jimmy Thompson of Vancouver, B.C. and Craig Thompson of Kelowna, B.C.; and cousins, Brian and Irene Hamerton of Winnipeg. Isabel was born and educated in Winnipeg and graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and Success Business College. She was manager of Sanford Evans Building News Service until her retirement. She was an ardent sports fan and was on the Executive of the Winnipeg Five Pin Bowling Association for ten years and in 1948 was the Winnipeg Singles Champion. She also was a member of the Academy Bowling League and Senior Mixed Bowling League. Isabel was also a former member of Charleswood and Niagara Country Golf Clubs. She and her husband enjoyed many years at their cottage at Clearwater Bay, Ont. Cremation has already taken place with a private service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens where she will be, at last, with her beloved Roddy. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
