CHANDRABEER PAUL SAWH After a lengthy illness, on February 19, 2000 passed away at 68 years of age. He is survived by his wife Pat, of 41 years; children, Sebastian, Estelle Guthro (Don), Mendel, Angela (Dave Ormiston and daughters Becky and Hannah) sisters, Betty Lall, Datta Ramrattan; brothers, Hanubeer, Baloobeer, and their respected families, plus numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Mohabir and Biphia, and brothers Ragubeer, Sookbir and Santabeer. Chandrabeer Paul Sawh was born on October 9, 1931, in Windsor Forest, Guyana. He spent his youth helping his father on their Coconut Estate, and in the family Rice Factory, while completing his University of Cambridge Junior Correspondence School Certificate (1948). In 1952, he traveled to England to pursue a career in medicine. He received a BA at Trinity College, Dublin, then was accepted as a Medical Student in University College, Dublin. He traveled extensively in the Middle East and Europe. It was at this time that he met and married his wife, Pat. There followed the birth of Sebastian (Dublin), and Estelle and Mendel (London). In 1964, he emigrated to Canada, where he was employed by the U of M as a Research Technician, for the Dept. of Pharmacology. A short time after Angela was born (Winnipeg). He then reunited with his brothers and sisters in Canada, after the death of his parents. In 1996, after 32 years, he retired from the U of M, having published over 100 research papers. He continued to work on his landscaping and gardening, in which he took great pride. He was well loved and highly respected by all who knew him, and was often asked for advice and help, which he gladly gave. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to say thanks to Dr. Goytan and Dr. Penner for helping us through a difficult time, and to all the nurses, aides and sitters of wards GA5, GH4, and SICU of the Health Sciences Centre for their endless care and support. Prayers and viewing will be held at Bardal Funeral Home, on Monday, February 28 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford Street at Corydon, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 29 with reception to follow.
