Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY (MAISIE) McGILL McFADYEN (nee NAIRN) Peacefully, at age 92, on February 24, 2000, Maisie died at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, where she had resided for the past year. Maisie was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 1995; her son Ronald Allan; and her brother David. She is the beloved mother of Keith (Leah), Ralph (Leyah), Barry (Linda), and Janet (Allan Carruthers). She is the devoted grandmother of Cameron (Corinne), Blair, Hugh (Jennifer), Ian, Scott (Kelly), Gregory (Jackie), Ross, Bryan, Jennifer (Darren) and Stuart; and great-grandmother of Adam, Luke, Ben, Clayton, Alexandra, Jayden, Kellie and Braeden. She is also survived by loving brothers, Harry (Lorraine) and Alexander. Mary was born in Winnipeg on July 14, 1907, the daughter of Alexander Nicholson and Mary Ingles Davidson Nairn. She attended school and secretarial college in Winnipeg. In 1930, she married Daniel McFadyen and together, they made their home in Eriksdale, MB where they raised their children and actively contributed to community life. Maisie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, as well as a friend to many in Eriksdale. She was a founding member of the United Church Ladies Aid, a member of the United Church choir, a member of the Hospital Guild, and a member of the Constellation Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Family and friends will fondly remember her hand knit sweaters and wonderful baking. Maisie will especially be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her dignity, and her twinkly smile. Grandchildren will remember that she never forgot a birthday. She celebrated every Christmas with her family, and especially enjoyed her visits with her great nieces, Pam, Debbie and Allison and their families. She was forever bright, cheerful, and interested in life. She leaves many special memories. The family is appreciative of the support of Eriksdale community members and of the loving care of the home care and Personal Care Home staff. A celebration of Maisies life will take place at Eriksdale United Church on Monday, February 28 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Eriksdale Cemetery. Should friends desire, donations may be made to the Elizabeth M. Crowe Memorial Hospital or to a charity of their choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of the arrangements.
